Even though we are less than a month into summer, and have already set multiple records for the hottest day in recorded history, those struggling to pay their utility bills due to the added cost of fans and air-conditioning can no longer get assistance \u2013 or relief \u2013 from this extreme heat, the deadliest impact of climate change.<\/p>\r\n<p>The State and the City must take immediate action to fill this gap, finding funding to continue this cooling assistance program so that our most vulnerable New Yorkers \u2013 those living in low-income communities and communities of color \u2013 can survive the rest of the summer, which we aren&#8217;t even halfway through.
