That is why WE ACT is so focused on safeguarding your indoor environment from hazards such as air pollution and lead poisoning."},"page_layout":[{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_wysiwyg","acfe_flexible_toggle":"","component_wysiwyg":{"content":"HEALTHY HOMES WORKING GROUP<\/strong>\r\nBuilding on WE ACT\u2019s legacy of leadership on the indoor environment and reducing exposure to toxic chemicals, our Healthy Homes Working Group is a community-driven space dedicated to addressing toxic chemical exposures in our daily lives. By merging the focuses of the Healthy Homes and Beauty Inside Out working groups, we aim to build collective knowledge and power to fight for safer environments, products, and policies that protect our health and well-being.\r\n\r\nOur work highlights the disproportionate impact of toxic chemicals on communities of color, from harmful ingredients in personal care and beauty products to lead poisoning and cumulative toxic exposures in our built environment. We host educational presentations, community discussions, and advocacy opportunities, providing tools for community members to take action\u2014whether by creating healthier homes, supporting beauty supply workers and consumers, or advocating for policy changes that prioritize environmental justice and public health. Together, we are building a movement for healthier, toxin-free homes and communities, and beauty justice.\r\n\r\nThe group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM via Zoom (register here<\/a>). And contact Danielle Mangabat at danielle.mangabat@weact.org<\/a> if you want to learn more about how you can get involved.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nNYCHA WORKING GROUP<\/strong>\r\nThe New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) faces a myriad of problems \u2013 most of which are tied to the fact that it has been chronically underfunded for years. As a result, NYCHA residents often have to endure environmental challenges such as mold, lead, and pests along with substandard service in terms of repairs, lack of resident engagement and other basic issues. Our NYCHA Working Group builds community power and educates members around NYCHA issues by discussing key topics, having conversations with informed speakers and advocating for solutions that will better NYCHA communities.
