Hollis wrote about the challenges of “going green” on the road with the Freedom to Breathe bus tour as it visits communities on the frontlines of climate change. They had hoped to be able to make the 5,000-mile cross country journey on an electric bus, to lead by example. However, as Dr. Hollis explains, the lack of infrastructure to support electric vehicles throughout much of America meant that the bus had to be powered by fossil fuels, which serves as another example of the work that can be – and needs to be – done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
