New York University’s Environmental and Racial Justice Network Summit
Location: 19 Washington Square North
Peggy Shepard will be giving a keynote address at the 2025 Spring Summit of its Environmental and Racial Justice Network. Lonnie Portis will be there as well, participating in a panel discussion on how to best navigate the current political climate. Learn more and RSVP here.

WE ACT’s New York City Mayoral Candidate Forum
Location: Police Athletic League at the Polo Grounds Towers, located at 3005 Frederick Douglass Boulevard
Do you know all the candidates who are running for New York City Mayor in the June 24th Primary Election? Come meet the candidates running for New York City Mayor. We have invited all of the candidates to come and tell us why they are the best candidate for it and how they will tackle environmental racism in our community. Location: The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, located at 454 West 155th Street
Do you know what the New York City Comptroller does? And do you know all the candidates who will be running for that seat in the June 24th Primary Election? Come meet the candidates running for the New York City Comptroller office. As part of our April Membership Meeting, we are co-hosting this with the NYLCVEF. We have invited all of the candidates to come tell us why they are the best candidate for the job and to discuss the budget and legislative process as it relates to New York City’s parks. WE ACT TCTAC’s Procedural Justice in Energy and Climate Decisions Webinar
Location: Online (via Zoom)
As part of our TCTAC, we are hosting the fifth installment in the New York University Environmental Justice Law and Policy Series: Procedural Justice in Energy and Climate Decisions. This virtual training webinar will explore the complex activities and processes that public utility or public service commissions take in the name of climate and energy policy and will answer the following questions. It’s a great opportunity for community-based organizations to learn about public service commissions and how to best engage with them. RSVP

WE ACT’s Annual Earth Day 5K Fun Run
Location: Randall’s Island Park (north of Icahn Stadium)
Come celebrate Earth Day, help raise funds for WE ACT, and run or walk for a healthier, greener community at our annual Earth Day 5K fundraiser. You can run or walk, and enter as an individual or as a team. The event is open to everyone, including all ages and abilities. RSVP

WE ACT & the Climate Film Festival’s Extreme Heat Film Screening & Panel Discussion
Location: Maysles Documentary Center (343 Malcolm X Boulevard)
WE ACT has once again teamed up with the Climate Film Festival for a heat-focused Earth Day event. This year we are screening The Heat Is On, an episode from PBS’ Weathered series. followed by a panel discussion on extreme heat, the deadliest impact of climate change. More details soon!

Location: Cornell Tech’s Verizon Executive Education Center on Roosevelt Island
Peggy Shepard will be on a panel discussing extreme heat, the deadliest impact of climate change, as part of the Cornell Mui Ho Center for Cities’ Climate Resilience Symposium. More details soon!

NYC DOT Car-Free Earth Day
Locations: Broadway between West 17th & West 46th Streets; Dyckman Street between Broadway & La Marina/Inwood Hill Park; and Fifth Avenue between 40th & 50th Streets in Brooklyn
WE ACT will be tabling from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in multiple locations as part of the New York City Department of Transportation’s Car-Free Earth Day celebration. Come join us!

WE ACT’s Earth Day Albany Advocacy Day for the Beauty Justice Act
Location: WE ACT’s Headquarters (1854 Amsterdam Avenue, which is at the corner of 152nd Street)
Are you concerned about the toxic chemicals commonly found in cosmetics and other personal care products? Did you know that many of the most toxic products are aggressively marketed towards people of color? Do you want to help do something about this? Travel up to Albany with us to lobby for the New York State Beauty Justice Act. RSVP
