Anhthu Hoang

Dr. Anhthu Hoang is a distinguished environmental justice leader who currently serves as the Deputy Director and General Counsel of WE ACT for Environmental Justice, where she provides strategic leadership for WE ACT with particular focus on environmental policy and health protection. Dr. Hoang has extensive experience in environmental law and policy, especially within the equity frame. She previously served as the Acting Director of the Office of External Civil Rights Compliance of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Acting Director of the Environmental Justice Community Engagement and Environmental Review Division in EPA Region 2, an Assistant Regional Counsel in EPA Region 2, representing the agency in Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Air Act, and multi-media matters. Beyond her government and advocacy work, Dr. Hoang serves as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and is involved in youth civic engagement. Dr. Hoang’s leadership in environmental health and policy has been recognized through numerous awards including a Samuel Heyman Service to America Medal People’s Choice Award. Dr. Hoang holds a Ph.D. in ecology and evolution and a Juris Doctorate.
