The WE ACT TCTAC Technical Assistance Center for New Jersey & New York
WE ACT for Environmental Justice was awarded one of the first TCTACs, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (TCTAC), which were designed to help environmental justice organizations and the municipalities they serve access the billions of dollars of federal funding made available by the Biden administration from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for local environmental justice initiatives. Our EPA Region 2 TCTAC, one of 18 across the country, serves New Jersey and New York, providing guidance and training to organizations interested in applying for federal funding.
During 2024, we provided technical assistance to 177 organizations looking to apply for environmental and climate justice funding opportunities, with 36 completing the application process. We hosted 25 trainings in which we engaged 441 community members and engaged an additional 2,084 in the 51 outreach events we participated in. By helping these organizations develop their ability to pursue and secure funding, we are helping build a stronger environmental justice movement in our region.
