In a June 12th, 2019 article largely celebrating the new development along the East 125th Street corridor as a result of the planned Second Avenue Subway extension and the 2017 rezoning in the area, Crain’s New York Business did acknowledge that community groups did not necessarily share the enthusiasm of the developers, using terms like “unease” and “warily” to describe our response to the inequity of the gentrification and displacement that has already started to bulldoze East Harlem. Though they did give us two paragraphs (see below) discussing the East 125th Street Community Visioning Action Plan we released earlier this year, which at least ensures that the views of the community are being heard.
