New York State Announces DEC Grant Recipients for Program Managed by WE ACT in the Troy Record – August 20, 2020

  • In an August 20, 2020 article in the Troy Record, New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced the winners of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) Environmental Justice Capacity-Building Grant Program managed by WE ACT for Environmental Justice. The article quotes Peggy Shepard, WE ACT’s Co-Founder & Executive Director, on the importance of such grants. WE ACT was awarded $1,000,000 grant from the DEC to help build the administrative, technical, and programmatic capacity of grassroots and community-based organizations working to achieve environmental justice and sustainability in low-income communities, communities of color, or underserved communities across the state. Eighteen organizations received $50,000 grants, for a total of $900,000. Read the Article
