WASHINGTON, DC — WE ACT for Environmental Justice congratulates Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán (CA-44) and Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) for their selection to the Energy and Commerce Committee of the 116th United States Congress. As the founders and co-chairs of the United for Climate and Environmental Justice Task Force, both Barragan and McEachin have made advancing clean energy paramount to addressing climate change while also bringing attention to the myriad of environmental problems that disproportionately impact communities of color, such as poor air quality and lack of clean water.
“We are incredibly excited that two environmental justice champions are on this influential committee and know they will continue to make environmental justice a high priority as they move forward with the work of the Energy and Commerce Committee,” said Kerene N. Tayloe, Esq., Counsel/Director of Federal Legislative Affairs at WE ACT for Environmental Justice. “WE ACT looks forward to working with all the members of the Energy and Commerce Committee during the 116th Congressional Session to ensure that all communities are represented fairly in policymaking and federal legislation.”
