WASHINGTON – Yesterday, the U.S. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) Committee voted to advance three nominees to serve as Commissioners at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to the Senate floor for consideration. This proceeds from an ENR hearing this past March to consider the nominees consisting of David Rosner, Judy Chang, and Lindsay See. In response, Anastasia Gordon, Federal Policy Director at WE ACT for Environmental Justice had this to say:

“Given their testimonies at the Committee’s hearing in March, our concernsabout the nominees’ ability to have the public’s best interest at heart remain true. The advancement of these nominees leaves environmental justice communities who experience disproportionate harm from polluting infrastructure wary that a Commission with them at the helm will not meet the demands of this moment. We need FERC leadership that centers public health, environmental justice, climate mitigation, and resiliency in decision-making. We urge the Senate to keep these goals at the forefront of their minds when it comes time to consider and vote on whether these potential candidates should serve on an Agency that has so much direct influence on the lives and futures of Americans, especially those on the frontlines.”
